Just a bit of info for your reading pleasure. Sarah (Ashbrook) Williams (grand-daughter of John and Sarah Horner-Woodfin) married a Smith Williams in Henderson NC ( now a part of Buncombe County, NC) they together moved into Pulaski County, Ky (now Somerset, Ky) They together, had 2 known living children the first; was a Dr. Uriah Williams, He actually Graduated from the Medical College at Lexington, Ky’s, ‘Transylvania College’. (Back then, that was a ‘big deal’, most doctors at that time did not attend any formal medical education.) Uriah, practiced in Pulaski, County Ky until after his parents died and then he moved into Mississippi. Where continued with his practice and served as the local town, US Post Master. (All can be verified from Transylvania College and Postal service records. His sister, (I forget her name?) married and moved to Tuscombia, AL. (I found this information printed in a local Pulaski County Ky, newspaper. She was noted; in the article to be worried about taking her ‘house slaves’ with her to Alabama? “I am not sure, if it the reporting of the newspaper can be verified.” If I can find the article, I will send you a copy.)
Smith and Sarah (Ashbrook) Willams were both members of the ‘Sinking Creek Baptist Church’. (Church records)
Smith Williams, apparently was a respected ‘Trustee at the Church’. (Now the Church is now re-named First Baptist of Somerset, Ky) Smith and Sarah were both buried in the Sinking Creek Church grave yard. (No visible/readable headstones.) Both sides, occupied Somerset Ky, during the CW. Many people, used graveyards to pasture their horses.
