Dear Mother:‑

No doubt you think I have almost forgotten you but we have been so busy and everything has been in such a turmoil up here that it has just been almost impossible for me to write you. I know that you realize how bad conditions can get at some times. We are getting things straightened out now however and will soon be in good shape with everything running along smoothly I hope. It is also hard for Margaret to find time to write now since we have the two kiddies. She is certainly a wonderful mother, spending all her time with the children and none whatever for pleasure. Bobby has been pretty sick the past week but we think is all right and on the road to rapid recovery now. At one time though we were worried about him. I think that most of the trouble was caused however by teething as he now has two big teeth. He seems to be much more lively and brighter that Billy was at his age, however Billy is holding his own. It is quite amusing to watch the advancement of the two of them.

We are all expecting you to come up here real soon. Hope you will be able to come up with Eddie. We both have plenty of room and can take care of you in good shape. You could stay up here several months and probably have a chance to go up to Fish creek for a visit. I know that you would very much enjoy going there to again see some of your old haunts. We would also like for you to bring Mrs. Sheppleman along for a visit. I enclose copy of a letter I wrote to Eddie so you can see what we have in mind for him and what he must do when he comes home. You and Norma have neither of you ever written me about the monument but Mr. Cole did and he said it was beautiful. I hope it is satisfactory to everyone as I know it was mostly my selection. I have the taken up the tax bill etc on the Mill street property with Mr. Cole. Don't let anything like that worry you because we will have plenty at the end of the season to take care of everything. I have also listed some of the other property with Cole ‑ don't think it pays to hold on to vacant property too long. Taxes are too high. If Sperling wants the rest of his money, tell Norma to give him check for it. Ted and I are both going to pay towards it. Suppose you noticed the advertising in the paper. Cole is keeping me informed about everything and says that it is all going along 0 K to date.  All  I am hoping for is to take the burden of payments off your minds, as I am thinking about them just as much as you or Norma. I think we will be able to pay the house out the end of the season. Tell Norma if she is out of signed checks to send them to me and I will sign a supply of them and return them to her. Please write more often. You know that we are up here busy and that every letter we get from you makes us put forth more effort and stimulates us to work harder.

                                                                           Your loving son,
